The Jain temples
located
within the Jaisalmer Fort walls are among the
most interesting tourist attractions of Jaisalmer,
Rajasthan, India.
Constructed in the style of
the Dilwara temples, the Jaisalmer Jain temples are
dedicated to Rikhabdevji and Sambhavnathji. The
Ashtapadhi Jain temple is also worth visiting.
Jaisalmer Jain temples date back to the
12th century and are pleasing spiritual havens, exquisitely
carved in yellow sandstone that entrance you into a state of
divine peace. In fact Jaisalmer tours are incomplete without
trips to these lovely Jain temples.
These Jain temples
are open to public from the early hours of morning till 12
noon. You must tour the Gyan Bhandar library attached to one
of these Jain temples. The Gyan Bhandar happens to be a rich
storehouse of historical texts related to the history of these
wonderfully carved Jain temple.
